In V26 Act 5 (the September 2026 snapshot), Gold was the most common Valorant rank at about 22% of ranked players, with Silver close behind at about 21%. Gold 1 was the single most common tier. Reaching Platinum put you in roughly the top 37%, Diamond in the top 19%, Ascendant in the top 8%, and Immortal in the top 1.4%. Radiant was 0.05%.
Act 6 started on October 13, 2026 with patch 13.08. Early act numbers swing a lot while people play their placement game, so Act 5 is the latest full act we could verify. The figures below come from Esports Tales, which builds them from Riot API match data collected by VStats.
Valorant rank distribution by tier (V26 Act 5)
| Rank | Share of players | This rank or higher |
|---|---|---|
| Radiant | 0.05% | 0.05% |
| Immortal | 1.37% | 1.42% |
| Ascendant | 6.32% | 7.74% |
| Diamond | 11.55% | 19.29% |
| Platinum | 17.56% | 36.85% |
| Gold | 22.12% | 58.97% |
| Silver | 20.66% | 79.63% |
| Bronze | 15.72% | 95.35% |
| Iron | 4.67% | 100% |
Setup.gg ran its own snapshot later in Act 5 (September 25, from vstats.gg tracked matches) and landed within about half a point on every tier: Gold 22.30%, Silver 20.19%, Platinum 18.07%, Diamond 11.90%. Two separate samples agreeing that closely is a good sign the shape is right, even if no tracker is a full Riot census.
The split inside each rank
Each rank has three tiers, and the bottom tier is almost always the biggest. That pattern shows up from Bronze to Immortal.
| Rank | Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iron | 0.57% | 1.54% | 2.56% |
| Bronze | 5.17% | 5.75% | 4.80% |
| Silver | 7.62% | 7.06% | 5.98% |
| Gold | 8.70% | 7.58% | 5.84% |
| Platinum | 7.62% | 5.83% | 4.11% |
| Diamond | 5.11% | 3.80% | 2.64% |
| Ascendant | 3.24% | 2.01% | 1.07% |
| Immortal | 0.98% | 0.22% | 0.17% |
Why does Tier 1 pile up? Two reasons. First, promotion into a new rank feels like a finish line, and many players slow down or stop for the act once they hit it. Second, the step into a new rank is where lobbies get noticeably harder, so players who were winning comfortably at Tier 3 of the rank below start trading wins and losses. That is the hidden MMR doing its job: the system has found roughly where you belong.

What the percentages mean for you
If you are Silver or Gold
You are in the middle of the ladder, not behind it. Silver and Gold together held about 43% of ranked players in Act 5. If you are Gold 3, you are already ahead of well over half the player base. The gap to Platinum is usually about consistency: trading well, using utility on purpose and not throwing rounds on eco buys.
If you are Platinum or Diamond
Platinum 1 is the point where you pass the median. Diamond means you are in roughly the top fifth. These ranks are crowded, so a small skill edge goes a long way. The players who climb out of Diamond tend to have a tight agent pool and a clear role, rather than more raw aim.
If you are Ascendant or higher
Ascendant 1 sits around the top 8%. Immortal is about one in seventy players. Above that, the ladder thins out so fast that Immortal 2 and 3 together are under 0.4%, and Radiant is a fixed slice of each regional leaderboard. At this level, every win matters more, and losses to smurfs or leavers hurt more because there are fewer games to recover in.
If you are Iron or Bronze
About one in five players is here. Most of them are new accounts, casual players or people still learning maps. The fastest climb at this level is basic: crosshair at head height, stop moving before you shoot, and play one or two agents until you know their kits without thinking.
Why the distribution looks the way it does
Valorant uses a visible rank with Rank Rating (RR) on top of a hidden matchmaking rating (MMR). Riot has said since launch that winning games is the main way to climb, and that strong individual play can speed that up. Over time your rank moves toward your MMR. When your rank and MMR match, you tend to sit near a 50% win rate. That is why so many players get stuck in one band: the game is putting them in fair matches.
Riot does not run artificial rank decay. If you stop playing for a while, your rank is hidden until you play again, but it does not drop in the background. That keeps inactive players from clogging the lower ranks and keeps the shape of the ladder fairly stable act to act.
Each new act asks for a short placement before your rank shows again. That is why early act snapshots look odd: lots of players have not played yet, and the ones who have are the most active, which tends to skew the numbers up. Give a new act a few weeks before comparing.
Reading the data carefully
- These are tracker numbers built from Riot API match data, not an official Riot release.
- They mix all regions. Your own region can lean slightly higher or lower.
- They count players who played ranked that act, not every account that owns the game.
- The bottom of each rank looks inflated partly because of where people stop playing, not only because of skill.
Climbing past where you are
If the table says you are stuck in the busiest part of the ladder, there are two honest ways to move. You can put in reps with a plan, review your deaths and keep your agent pool small. Or you can get help. A Valorant duo boost pairs you with a pro who queues with you on your own account, so you learn while you climb. If you only care about a target number of wins, Valorant net wins works per win instead of per rank.
Be aware that account sharing breaks Riot's terms of service. Duo play keeps the account in your hands, which is why many players prefer it.
If you want to see what a pro on your account would cost for a specific climb, the Valorant rank boost page lets you pick your current and target rank. Orders are tracked game by game in a live order chat, and you can get a refund before work starts.
