The current Savage tier in Final Fantasy XIV is AAC Heavyweight, four floors called M9S to M12S, added with patch 7.4. It is the last Savage tier of Dawntrail: patch 7.5 (from April 2026) added content around it but no new Savage tier. You unlock it by finishing the Heavyweight normal mode story quest "Glory Incarnate" and talking to Gabbro in Ring Noir, Xak Tural. Savage gear is item level 790, and the weapon from the last floor is 795. This guide was checked on 29 October 2026.
The four floors at a glance
| Floor | Boss | Minimum item level | Main gear drops (IL 790) |
|---|---|---|---|
| M9S | Vamp Fatale | 760 | Earring, necklace, bracelet and ring coffers |
| M10S | Red Hot and Deep Blue | 765 | Head, hand and foot coffers, plus a Universal Tomestone 3.0 and a Thundersteeping Glaze |
| M11S | The Tyrant | 770 | Chest and leg coffers, plus Thundersteeped Twine and Solvent |
| M12S | The Lindwurm | 770 | Weapon coffer and a random weapon (IL 795), the tier mount and minion |
Item levels and drops are taken from the community wiki floor pages. Each floor is a full party of eight (two tanks, two healers, four DPS), has a 90 minute time limit and is synced to level 100.
How Savage loot works
Savage loot is gated by week, so planning matters more than raw clears.
- One loot week per floor. You can only get treasure from each floor once per weekly reset. Clearing again the same week gives no coffer.
- Books every week. Each floor gives one guaranteed book per week: AAC Illustrated: HW Edition I to IV, one per floor. Books build up and are traded for gear, so even a week with bad rolls moves you forward.
- Tomestones. Every floor also gives 30 Allagan Tomestones of Mnemonics.
- Upgrade materials. Twine, Glaze and Solvent upgrade your tomestone gear to augmented 790 pieces. That is how most players fill the slots they do not take from Savage.
The usual best-in-slot set is a mix of Savage pieces and augmented tomestone pieces. Which slots come from where depends on your job, so check a current best-in-slot list before you spend books.

The Echo makes the tier easier now
Late in a tier, Square Enix switches on the Echo, a damage, healing and health bonus for the party. The wiki floor pages now list a permanent 12% Echo on the Heavyweight Savage floors. That has two practical effects:
- Damage checks and enrage timers are easier to meet, so groups with weaker gear can clear.
- Mechanics still kill. The Echo does not save you from a missed tower or a stack. Prog is still about learning the fight.
If you tried the tier at launch and stopped at a damage wall, it is worth another look.
How to get ready
- Clear the normal mode story. Gabbro will not offer Savage until "Glory Incarnate" is done.
- Reach the item level. M9S needs 760, M12S needs 770. Crafted gear, tomestone gear and normal mode drops get you there.
- Meld and eat. Materia and food are expected in every group. Missing melds is a common reason a party misses a check.
- Learn the fight first. Watch a guide for your floor and read your group's strategy, since parties use different solutions for the same mechanic.
- Join the right group. Party Finder is fine for later floors with the Echo. A static is better for the last floor or for pushing early.
Which floor gives the most value
M9S and M10S are short and are usually cleared every week by whole groups. M11S has the body and legs, which are the biggest stat pieces. M12S is the hardest floor and the only Savage source of the 795 weapon, the mount and the minion. Many players who only want the weapon and mount look for a clear of the last floor alone.
If you want to spend fewer evenings on prog, our FFXIV Savage raids service clears the floors you pick with our static. Tier mounts from Extreme trials and Savage are covered on the FFXIV mounts page.
Savage compared with Ultimate
Savage is the current tier at current item level. Ultimate fights are separate, much longer encounters, synced to their own item level, with a weapon totem and a Legend title instead of gear upgrades. They do not drop anything that raises your item level, so they come after Savage for most players. If you want one, see the FFXIV Ultimate raids page.
About Savage carries and your account
A Savage clear here is played on your character by a pro in our static. You follow it in the live order chat, the pro can appear offline, and every clear is tracked. You can get a refund before work starts. Square Enix's user agreement does not allow sharing your account, so a piloted clear carries a real risk of action on your account. Weigh that before you order, and keep your account email and one time password settings in your own hands.
Everything we offer for the game, from leveling to Ultimates, is on the FFXIV boosting page.
