Your Mythic+ rating is the sum of your best run in each dungeon of the current season. Each run is scored by its keystone level, then nudged up if you beat the timer by a margin or down if you went over. Higher keys are worth more, so the fastest way to raise rating is to time a higher key in your weakest dungeon. This guide covers Midnight Season 2, which started the week of 18 August 2026 with patch 12.1.
The short version of the formula
- Every dungeon gets one score. Only your best scoring run in each dungeon counts.
- The score comes from key level. Raider.IO's published table starts a timed +2 at 155 points and a timed +3 at 170. Each level above adds more.
- Time adjusts it. Finishing well under the timer adds a little. Finishing over the timer lowers the value of that run.
- Your rating is the total. Add the best score from all eight dungeons together.
Because only the best run per dungeon counts, a bad run can never lower your rating. It either does nothing or replaces a weaker run. That makes pushing keys low risk for your score, even if it costs you a keystone level.
Key level matters more than speed
The timer bonus is small compared with the jump from one key level to the next. A clean, barely-timed +11 is worth more than a lightning-fast +10. So when you plan your week, look at which dungeon has your lowest timed key and push that one first.
Overtime runs usually still count for something, at a reduced value, though a run that goes far over the timer can score nothing. That can help early in a season when you have nothing logged in a dungeon. Once you have a timed run there, an overtime run at the same level usually will not replace it.
Does the weekly affix change scoring?
Older seasons tracked a Fortified best and a Tyrannical best for each dungeon and weighted them. Since The War Within merged the two tracks, both affixes run together from +10, so each dungeon simply has one best run. You do not need to time each dungeon twice.

Timers and keystone upgrades
Every dungeon has its own timer. Finish inside it and your keystone upgrades. Finish faster and it upgrades more:
- In time: +1 key level.
- Within 80% of the timer: +2 key levels.
- Within 60% of the timer: +3 key levels.
Fail the timer and the key drops a level. In Season 2, timing every dungeon at +12 makes your keystone resilient, so it cannot deplete below that level. Resilience can be raised up to +30.
Affixes by key level in Season 2
Season 2 keeps the same affix layout as Season 1. Low keys are gentle, and the pressure ramps up at fixed points:
| Key level | What is active |
|---|---|
| Low keys | Lindormi's Guidance marks a basic route, slightly weakens some enemies and stops deaths from cutting into the timer. |
| +7 | Fortified or Tyrannical, depending on the week. |
| +10 | Fortified and Tyrannical together. |
| +12 | Xal'atath's Guile replaces the seasonal affix. Each player death removes 15 seconds from the timer. |
That +12 jump is why many groups stall there. Deaths suddenly cost time, so a single bad pull can lose the timer. Clean play matters more than raw damage from this point.
The Season 2 dungeon pool
Eight dungeons count toward your rating this season:
- Altar of Fangs (new in Season 2)
- Murder Row
- Den of Nalorakk
- The Blinding Vale
- Voidscar Arena
- Ruby Life Pools
- Kings' Rest
- Temple of Sethraliss
Your total is only as strong as your weakest dungeon. Players with one or two neglected dungeons often find their fastest rating gain is a couple of easy timed runs there, not another push in their favourite.
Rating rewards in Midnight Season 2
| Rating | Reward |
|---|---|
| Any timed key | Midnight Keystone Explorer: Season 2 |
| 1,500 | Keystone Conqueror and the Venomous title |
| 2,000 | Keystone Master and the Breath of Blight mount |
| 2,500 | Keystone Hero and an enhanced tier set appearance |
| 3,000 | Keystone Legend and the Breath of Ruin mount |
| Top 0.1% of the region | The Venomous Hero title |
There is also a Keystone Myth tier above 3,000 and a top 1% reward. Sources list different thresholds for Myth, so check the achievement in game. Timing a +10 in a dungeon also unlocks its teleport, which saves a lot of travel.
How to climb rating faster
- Fix your weakest dungeon first. The lowest score in your profile is the cheapest rating to gain.
- Time keys rather than speedrun them. One level higher beats any timer bonus.
- Respect +12. Avoidable deaths cost 15 seconds each. Play defensives and skip risky pulls.
- Gear helps. Running the current raid alongside keys gives item level that makes higher keys comfortable.
- Get your character ready. A fresh alt needs to reach max level before keys mean anything. WoW leveling handles that part.
Getting a carry for Mythic+
Most Mythic+ help is done as a group run: you play your own character inside a group of our players, so there is no account sharing. Self-play needs nothing from your login. If you choose piloted runs, a pro plays on your account with appear offline, which breaks Blizzard's terms of service, so self-play is the safer route. You can follow the order in live chat and get a refund before work starts.

Quick answers
How is Mythic+ rating calculated?
Each dungeon is scored by your best run, based mainly on key level with a small adjustment for time. Your rating is the sum of those best scores across the season's eight dungeons.
Do depleted keys give rating?
Yes, if you finish the dungeon. An overtime run is worth less than the same key timed, and it only counts if it beats your current best in that dungeon.
Can a bad run lower my rating?
No. Only your best run per dungeon counts, so a failed or low run can never reduce your score.
What rating do I need for the Season 2 mount?
2,000 for Keystone Master and Breath of Blight. 3,000 earns Keystone Legend and Breath of Ruin.
When do deaths start costing time?
From +12, where Xal'atath's Guile removes 15 seconds per death. On low keys, Lindormi's Guidance stops deaths from cutting into the timer.
