The Kappa container is the reward for Collector, a task from Fence. Since patch 1.1.0.0 (August 2026, the start of Season 1: Kord Breach), Collector no longer asks you to finish almost every side task in the game. It now unlocks through Loyalty Level 4 with every main trader, a Fence reputation threshold, a character level gate and a short set of key quests. Once it is open, you still hand in a long list of found-in-raid collector items. Community trackers currently list 44 of them.
What changed in 1.1.0.0
Battlestate Games said ahead of the patch that "the requirements for unlocking the Collector task will be revised". The official 1.1.0.0 notes confirm three things that matter for Kappa:
- Loyalty levels were rebalanced. Trader sales volume was removed from Loyalty Level requirements. Reputation and character level requirements were rebalanced for every Loyalty Level of Prapor, Therapist, Fence, Skier, Peacekeeper, Mechanic, Ragman and Jaeger.
- A new achievement. Completing Collector now grants Dawn of a New Era.
- The old achievement is gone. Kappa Path can no longer be earned. Players who already had it keep it on their profile.
The exact Collector thresholds are not printed in the patch notes. The figures below come from community testing and data mining, so check the task screen in your own game before you plan around a single number.
Collector requirements at a glance
| Requirement | What it means | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Loyalty Level 4 with the main traders | Max standing with every trader that has an LL4. This replaces most of the old side task checklist. | Reported by several community guides, in line with BSG's announcement |
| Fence reputation threshold | Positive scav karma. Kill scavs as a PMC and it drops fast. | Confirmed as a requirement. The exact value is community reported. |
| Character level gate | LL4 already needs a high level, so the level gate rarely blocks you on its own. | Sources disagree on the exact number |
| Key quest lines | A handful of long chains still have to be finished. A Shooter Born in Heaven (Mechanic) appears on every list. | The rest of the list varies between trackers |
| Found-in-raid collector items | Hand in one of each item, found in raid. Bought copies do not count. | 44 items on current community trackers |

Trader loyalty is now the real grind
Under the old system, Kappa was a quest-count problem. Now it is mostly a loyalty problem. Each LL4 needs a character level and a reputation value, and reputation still comes mainly from finishing that trader's tasks. In practice you still do a lot of quests. You just get to pick more of them, because you need enough reputation rather than a fixed list.
Ragman, Jaeger and Mechanic tend to be the slowest to max, because their task lines include long kill tasks, gear checks and hand-ins. If you want to skip the busywork, our Tarkov trader quests service covers specific chains or a full trader.
Fence reputation
Fence rep goes up when you extract as a scav, help other scavs and use car or co-op extracts. It drops when you kill scavs as a PMC or shoot friendly scavs. Many players stall here late in a wipe because they spent months shooting every scav they saw. Plan a few scav runs a week from the start and it will not hold you up.
A Shooter Born in Heaven
This Mechanic task asks for long-range headshots on several maps. It is the one quest every Collector guide still lists after 1.1.0.0, and it is often the last thing people finish. A bolt-action with a good scope and patience on open maps is the usual approach.
The collector items
The hand-in list is the part that did not change in spirit: rare named items, many of them tied to streamers and community figures, that must be found in raid. Trackers list 44 right now. A few you will recognise:
- Golden egg
- Pestily plague mask and Shroud half-mask
- Veritas guitar pick
- Can of RatCola soda and Can of GigaBeef meat
- Loot Lord plushie
- Video cassette with the Cyborg Killer movie
- Gingy keychain
Three rules save a lot of pain:
- Keep every collector item you find. Do not sell them, even early in a wipe when money is tight.
- Found in raid is the only status that counts. Flea market and trader copies are useless for Collector.
- Hand items in as soon as the task opens. Each hand-in is permanent, so you stop risking them in your stash.
How long does Kappa take now?
We will not give you a fixed hour count, because nobody has a reliable one for the new rules and it depends on how you play. What decides your time:
- Level. LL4 traders need a high PMC level. If you are behind, PMC leveling is the fastest unlock for everything else.
- Weekly hours. A player who raids every evening finishes far sooner than a weekend player.
- Item luck. The last few collector items are often the bottleneck. Some spawn in only a few places.
- PvP or PvE. PvE removes the risk of losing items to other players, which makes the hand-ins less stressful.
The honest summary: the rework removed a lot of tedious side tasks, but Kappa is still a long-term goal for most players, not a weekend project.
Seasons, wipes and your Kappa progress
Since 1.0, your main character is permanent. Your stash, hideout, quests and Kappa progress stay. Seasons are separate, opt-in fresh starts on a different character, and Season 1 is PvP only. Battlestate's roadmap points to Season 2 arriving with patch 1.4.0.0, expected in December 2026, but there is no fixed date yet.
Patch 1.1.5.0 followed on 8 September 2026 with a Lighthouse rework and a reworked Lightkeeper task chain. If you are going for Kappa and Lightkeeper together, the Lightkeeper page covers that path.
Getting help with Kappa
A pro from our team can play on your account with appear offline on, or join you as a raid partner, while you follow every step in the live order chat. Each task and hand-in is tracked, and you can get a refund before work starts. Be aware that account sharing breaks Battlestate's terms of service, so playing alongside a carry is the lower-risk option.
If you want the full container done, see the Tarkov Kappa container service.
Quick answers
Who gives the Collector task in Tarkov?
Fence. Completing it rewards the Kappa secure container.
Do I still need to finish every quest for Kappa?
No. Since patch 1.1.0.0, most side tasks were dropped as direct requirements. You need LL4 traders, Fence reputation, a level gate and a few key quest chains instead.
How many items does Collector need?
Current community trackers list 44 found-in-raid items. Check the task screen in game, because the patch notes do not print the count.
Can I still get the Kappa Path achievement?
No. It stopped being obtainable when Season 1 began. Finishing Collector now grants Dawn of a New Era.
Do seasons reset my Kappa progress?
No. Your permanent character keeps it. Seasons run on a separate character that you choose to start.
