The fastest way to level from 1 to 45 in AION 2 is to follow the gold main quest line and do only as much side content as you need to pass each progress gate. The main quests give by far the most experience. Grinding monsters gives very little. A first character usually takes about 10 to 15 hours to reach 45 this way, depending on class and how much MMO experience you have. This guide is for the global version that launched on PC (Steam and PURPLE) on 5 October 2026, where 45 is the Season 1 level cap.
The short route
- Follow the gold quests. The main story, shown in gold, is the backbone of leveling. Keep it as your active quest and go straight to the next step.
- Watch the red progress bar. Main quest chapters are tied to a progress requirement. Main quest experience alone does not always fill it.
- Fill the gap with the cheapest content nearby. Green side quests, Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds all push you over the gate. Pick whatever is closest to where you already are.
- Upgrade gear only when you hit a wall. Leveling gear is replaced fast. Save upgrade materials for the endgame.
- Stop grinding monsters. If you are killing mobs for experience, you are on the slow path. Go back to quests.
Why the main quest is the whole game until 45
AION 2 front-loads its experience into the story. Every guide we checked agrees on that point. Monster kills, repeat dungeon runs and open world activities give a fraction of what a main quest step gives. The trick is not finding a secret farming spot. It is wasting as little time as possible between main quest steps.
That means:
- Pick up green side quests only when they are on your route or when you need them for a gate.
- Use flight and gliding to cut travel, especially between quest hubs.
- Play the story on one character first. Alternate characters level faster because you already know the route.
Progress gates and how to clear them
At certain points the next main quest step will not open until a progress bar is full. This is where most players stall and start grinding. Grinding works, but it is the slowest way through.
| Content | Why it helps at a gate | When to do it |
|---|---|---|
| Green side quests | Quick progress, and some give useful gear and accessories | When they sit on your current map |
| Sealed Dungeons | Mostly one-time clears that give Daevanion progress and skill resources | As soon as one opens near you |
| Strongholds | One-time rewards plus Daevanion progress | When you are already in the area |
| Regional quests | Accessories, titles and upgrade materials | Mostly after 45, when they are worth more |
Sealed Dungeons, green quests and Strongholds scale with your level, so you never "miss" them by out-leveling them. If a gate comes up early, do the closest ones. If you are already at 45, they are still worth clearing for the one-time rewards. That is also what our Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons service covers if you would rather skip the checklist.

Stigma slots on the way
Stigmas are extra skills you slot in, and the slots open as you level. Current guides list them at levels 22, 27, 32 and 37. Each one is a real power spike, so when a new slot opens, take a minute to fill it before you push the next story section. It is faster than fighting the next area under-powered.
Class and gear tips that save time
- Keep your weapon current. If you upgrade anything while leveling, make it the weapon and accessories. They matter more than armor.
- Do not over-enhance leveling gear. Extracting gear returns materials but not the kinah you spent, so heavy enhancement on early pieces is wasted money.
- Use titles. You can have up to three active, and they add stats for free.
- Spend Daevanion points as you get them. They make the next gate faster, which makes them worth more than saving.
What changes at 45
At the cap, character level stops mattering and item level takes over. The Abyss opens, which is the Elyos against Asmodian PvP zone. Your gear progress then runs through a fairly fixed ladder:
- Finish the leftovers. Remaining main and Ascension quests, regional quests, Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds.
- Conquest expeditions. These are the first gear dungeons, unlocked by item level rather than character level. See the AION 2 expeditions service for clears on the mode you pick.
- Transcendence. Staged dungeons that drop Arcana, with harder stages unlocking as your item level climbs. The Transcendence page has stage clears.
- The Ludra raid. The sanctuary raid Abyssal Forge: Ludra sits at the top of the current ladder.
The exact item level for each step moves with patches, so check the entry screen in game rather than trusting a number from a guide.
Common mistakes
- Grinding mobs at a gate instead of doing the nearest Sealed Dungeon.
- Doing every green quest in a zone. Most of them are worth less than the next main quest step.
- Spending kinah enhancing gear you will replace two maps later.
- Leaving new Stigma slots empty.
Getting leveling help
If you have a second character to level, or no time for the first one, a pro from our team can play the route on your account. You keep track of the order in the live order chat, the pro can appear offline, and you can get a refund before work starts. Be aware that someone else playing your account goes against NCSOFT's terms of service, so piloted leveling carries real account risk. We do not call any of this risk free.
Prices for a level range you pick are on the AION 2 leveling page. Everything else we offer for the game is on the AION 2 boosting page.
